Saint Nectarios

The Monastery of Saint Nectarios in Aegina is one of the top attractions of the island. Every year the Monastery is an attraction for thousands of tourists from Greece and abroad who arrive throughout the year to worship. It is one of the largest monasteries in the country, while it is also on the list of the largest churches in the Balkans.

Where is it located?

Agia Marina is located 12.2 km away from the port of Aegina. Agia Marina is directly connected to the port of Piraeus with regular routes. There is also frequent transport to the city of Aegina, both by bus and taxi.

What do you need to know before your visit?

The Monastery of Saint Nectarios is considered a miraculous place due to the homonymous modern saint of the Christian church, Saint Nectarios. Saint Nectarios (1846-1920) is said to have performed many miracles during his lifetime and is now the patron saint of the island. The Monastery of Saint Nectarios celebrates every year on November 9, with festivities on the island beginning the day before.
